With effect of 1 March 2004, the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) is responsible for supervising the compliance of trust offices with the Supervision of Trust Offices Act (WTT) and the Regulation on Sound Operations under the WTT which has been established in order to promote the integrity of the financial system.

DNB carries out on-site investigations at licensed trust offices. This involves assessing the operations, including client acceptance files and files relating to the source and use of target companies' funds. The scope of supervision by DNB also extends to compliance with the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Act and the Sanctions Act 1977.
